After graduating from the hospitality program at Washington State University, he spent 20 some years in the restaurant trade and as a marketing and development consultant to wineries, restaurants, food manufacturers and private individuals. He has lived in the same vintage farmhouse in rural Skagit County for over 20 years with his wife and son (when he is not off at college or some exotic locale taking pictures).
